World Book Day 2019

We had a fantastic day celebrating our favourite book characters and authors! Come and see what we got up to here!

This year, all classes were split into groups of 6 children who all dressed up as characters from the same book. Each group took part in an activity where they had to create a short 5 to 10 minute performance based around their characters, or to tell a story from the book their characters starred in.

Preparing to tell a story!
Planning the plot line!

The children came up with some brilliant ideas for their performances including some very good role play where the children all became their chosen characters and acted in exactly the same way as they would in the book! The groups also did a spot of drama too where they acted out scenes filled with passion towards their character and other characters in the book they had read.

Before going to lunch, the children presented their performances to their class teachers - we were absolutely blown away by the performances we saw and loved every minute of them! The children worked really well together in the time they had and created some brilliant work!

Running through our scripts!
Acting out a scene!

At lunchtime, the class teachers picked out their favourite performances - this was no easy feat as the competition was strong between all groups. After lunch, the winning groups were decided and all awarded certificates - well done to our winning groups!

We would like to give a huge thank you to all parents, staff and children for their support of World Book Day and for all their hard work in promoting the importance of reading!
