Caritas in Action - Family & Community Week

To support the children's learning for 'Caritas in Action - Family & Community Week', the children in Year 5 visited the Laurels Residential Care Home in Harrow.

The children shared some of the fantastic work that they have been doing, including their Viking paintings, self-portraits and Anglo-Saxon Houses that they have built. In addition to this, some of the children played some beautiful songs on the piano, which the residents thoroughly enjoyed!

Finally, the children presented the residents with knitted chicks (made by St Anselm's knitting club) that contained a Cadburys cream egg. The residents were absolutely delighted with their gift!

All in all, this was a wonderful experience for the staff, children and the residents of the care home and we feel that we really made a difference to our local community and the residents of the care home by brightening up their day!

It was a really interesting experience because I got to learn about how older people live in a care home. It was really rewarding to see how happy they were when we showed them our art work.

It made me feel joyful to see the residents smile when we showed them our art work!

I enjoyed seeing the planes that one of the residents made. They were built with toilet paper, rubber bands, old plastic and anything you find around the house!
