Our Governors
THE ROLE OF THE GOVERNING BODY
To ensure that every child receives the best possible education the Governing Body fulfils a vital role (as defined by the School Governance (Roles, Responsibilities and Allowances) (England) Regulations 2013) by:
- Ensuring clearly defined vision, ethos and strategic direction for the School
- Holding the Head Teacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils and the performance management of staff
- Overseeing the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent
Through the Governing Body and its committees, governors provide knowledge and wisdom, gained outside the School, to benefit the School using their financial, planning, administration and parenting skills, to inform and advise the School leadership team on various issues.
ABOUT THE GOVERNING BODY
The Governing Body of St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School is made up of foundation governors (appointed by the Diocese of Westminster), parents (elected by parents), the Head Teacher, staff (elected by School staff), a governor appointed by the Local Authority and co-opted and associate governors (appointed by the Governing Body for their specific skills and expertise).
The full Governing Body meets six times a year and;
- Plays a central role in reviewing and developing the School Improvement Plan and all formal policies connected with the school
- Ratifies all important strategic decisions taken by the school

My background is in accounting mainly as a management accountant. My two children attended St. Anselm’s for part of their primary school years and benefited greatly from the education and care provided here. I want to help the school maintain its excellence in education and care. |

Governor Type: Headteacher Committee: All Term of office: 01/01/2021 to 01/01/2025 Declaration of interests: None I joined St Anselm’s in 2004 and became Headteacher in January 2021 after being the Deputy Headteacher for the school since my appointment in 2010. During this time it has been my privilege to help to shape St Anselm’s into the popular and successful school that it is. In a long and varied teaching career, spanning almost 37 years, within Ealing and Harrow, I am blessed to have served in Catholic schools throughout. I look forward to continuing to work with the governors of St Anselm’s to preserve and promote outstanding Catholic education where all our children thrive and succeed. |

Governor Type: Parent Governor Committee: Pupil, Out of School Club and Curriculum Term of office: 01/09/2016 to 31/08/2020 Declaration of interests: I have been a Parent Governor at St Anselm’s since September 2016. I have 2 children at St Anselm’s. I am a scientist and a teaching fellow at Imperial College London and throughout my career I have been active in STEM (science, technology, engineering, maths) outreach and education, encouraging and supporting children and young adults to study and enjoy STEM subjects. I am Chair of the Pupil Committee and I am proud to part of St Anselm’s Governing Body, helping our school community learn and grow together in prayer, belief and love. |

Governor Type: Foundation Governor Committee: Resources Term of office: 01/03/2018 to 30/08/2021 Declaration of interests: None I have always been interested in education having studied our education system at degree level and I was also a school governor for many years at a secondary school in Northamptonshire. I am the Bank of England’s Senior Staff Counsellor and an integrative psychotherapist, a British Association of Councillors and Psychotherapists Accredited and Registered Counsellor. I have been counselling for over 15 years, and have been the Bank’s lead counsellor since November 2005. Alongside this role I am an advisor to the Bank’s Inclusion Team particularly focusing on wellbeing and community. |

I have been a barrister practising in criminal law since 1997. I have two children currently at St. Anselm's, and want to use my role to do everything I can to ensure that every pupil benefits from the high standards to be found in our school. |

Governor Type: Associate Governor Committee: Admissions Term of office: 01/03/2018 to 31/03/2022 Declaration of interests: None As the parent of two ex-pupils at St Anselm’s and having previously spent a number of years as Chair of the Staff and Parents' Association, I was delighted to continue my association with the school and joined the Governing Body in 2018. I am a mother of two grown-up children and work full time in the media industry specialising in marketing post-production, production and process planning. I assist the Governing Body with the admissions process and am proud to be able help support the growth and development of such a wonderful school. |

Governor Type: Parent governor Committee: Pupil, Out of School Club and Curriculum Term of office: 13/03/20 to 31/03/24 Declaration of interests: TBC I’ve been a parent governor at St Anselm’s since March 2020. I’m a mother of two young children, my son attends St Anselm’s school. My husband also attended St Anselm’s many, many years ago and I know it’s been consistent in its care, high standards and academic achievements. I have been a Police Constable in the metropolitan police service since 2005. A large part of my policing career has been in Community engagement and partnership work, with a focus on youth work. I’ve worked in school and college settings across the city, and have always had an interest in early years education. This role as governor has given me great insight into the day to day running of a school, the decision making processes and the importance of having a strong management and governing body team. I’m passionate about safeguarding young people and prompting their welfare. I believe greatly in providing children with the skills to become responsible citizens and to contribute positively to their school and community. I look forward to supporting the school and leadership team to continue in the excellent work they do. |

I am currently the Assistant Head Teacher and as well as teaching and learning responsibilities I also lead computing. I am proud to be a part of the staff and governors, as we learn and grow together to strive for excellence in all areas. |
