Physical Education

At St Anselm’s Catholic Primary School, all children are taught physical education by his or her class teacher. All lessons allow children the opportunity to be taught a vast array of physical skills, according to the requirements of the National Curriculum.

In line with government recommendation, children must have two hours of indoor and outdoor PE timetabled per week, through a variety of topics such as gymnastics, dance and games. Furthermore, pupils are also able to partake in a range of competitions and tournaments within St Anselm’s and at local level against other schools in the borough. Results and news regarding sports competitions are updated regularly and can be found in the ‘News and Events’ section of this website.

In Year 4, all children are required to take part in weekly swimming lessons (Friday mornings), due to requirements of that all pupils should leave Year 6 able to swim 25 metres competently.
