Rights Respecting School
We are very proud of the work we do to maintain and enhance our status as a Rights Respecting School. This award from UNICEF recognises our commitment to children’s rights to an education, to protection from harm and to the best possible healthcare. These universal rights are set out in the articles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child, which you can see if you follow the link below.
St Anselm’s achieved the Rights Respecting Award at Level 1 in June 2011 and following rigorous assessment in February 2015 the school has been accredited with Level 2
The team assessing was highly impressed by the way rights respecting underpins so many core values of our school community, and the commitment and value shown by the whole St Anselm’s community to this award. In the letter to the school which accompanied the assessment report, informing of our Level 2 achievement, Maura Hayes the RRSA Senior Professional Adviser wrote:
I have great pleasure in attaching your Level 2 report for RRSA. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all the children and adults who have worked together on this special journey. Zaitun and I were very impressed by the commitment of everyone at St Anselm’s School to ensure that children know and access their rights. We are unable to include everything in our report but we do hope that we have captured the spirit of your school and we look forward to working with you all as you travel on beyond Level 2. Thank you so much for your hospitality on the day and for helping us by providing such thorough and well organised evidence.
